We salute local Perth & WA legend RICK STEELE passed @ 77 year old.
May he Rest In Peace in the big Blues Club in the Sky. Suburban muso soldier life living in Dianella with life long wife Liz + super talented family Luke, [Empire of Sun/Sleepy Jackson] Katie, [Little Birdy] Jake [Electronic/Tabacco Rat], Jesse [Sleepy Jackson],
After half a century with literally thousands of gigs/performances Rick was inducted into WA Music Hall of Fame. Creating his piece WA & Australia’s music history with lifelong band mates. Hot Biscuit Band & many other projects over 5 decades.
Blues club past President, blues festivals, special events, collaborations, music projects, a musical journeyman as a true local doing legendary stuff. Rick was not just your simple man but with complex creative view of life always carrying around his tools of the trade in harmonicas, guitar, song book, tales of life & times. Delivering songs with a bourbon, beer soaked, touched with tobacco. Signature sound with a Dylan slant but more rough, rasping voice that was as authentic as you can get in a aussie/kiwi/austerican wording that was his own unique voice.
Always a proud Kiwi with a love for Bob Dylan, the blues along with telling stories in music performing hand picked classics plus his many written songs that where world class. A man with a message, good sense of humour, dedicated to his craft, mate to many, family man. Rick was a unique individual who made a mark, contributed to community & left a large piece of himself in music behind to be remembered. A real music man & character sadly missed by his family, friends, fans who we will always be remembered.
We thank him for the tunes & times, it was a privilege for many to see, hear & meet the man in life well lived.
