SUNSET COAST ODYSSEY
This is a retrospective feature on the history of Sunset Coast which begun on 15th September 1996 as ‘the Sunset Coast concept’. For the love of WA with all its natural wonders in West Australian.

Founder Dean Mitchell is a local born & bred who like many locals loves sunsets, beach, swimming, surfing, sports & lifestyle culture in WA. When possible on weekends heading to the beach early for a salty day finishing with a sunset surf if possible to end the day. A mad sportsman, super fan of music, live bands, clubs, every other day of the week socializer. Getting out to see gigs, hang with friends, party, meeting lots of new strangers. After way too many Sunday Sessions at Scarborough, Cottesloe, Freo, Sorrento, around the coast, cruising down south + shit loads of sundowners around town or banks of the Swan river. It became obvious living in WA was like the island life.

Living in the central coast, Wembley Downs/Scarborough working in the publishing, promotions with entertainment, hospitality, pubs, clubs, events primarily around the city to the coastal districts. Plus promotions in places north & south on the coast towns, satellite cities. Sunset Coast was always a common reference to WA beach life. So it was a natural to promotional angle to use Sunset Coast as a brand to campaign for an umbrella to all the activities planned. produced, presented. Creating a focus or framing one of WA’s natural assets the sunsets over the Indian Ocean with beach life with a climate that is so special. Anything & everything was showcased under the banner of Sunset Coast for Events, Magazine, promotions since 1996.

SUNSET COASTING
1996 the timing was right for “Deano” the driving force behind idea for another WA brand. Developing a key multileveled project in promotions, publishing, productions, presentations which was the local Sunset Coast concept. After a decade prior with a variety of successful projects. lots of contacts, community focus it was an opportunity to bring as much to the table as possible. So a hard copy free pocket & quarto publication Sunset Coast Magazine was established bi monthly. M&Co was publishing Windsurfing, Kiteboarding, Surfing, guides along with a long list of events so it was a natural project to publish the information. All the good people along the coast are a special community with some world class local crew involved along the way 1996-1999.

SUNSET COAST EVENTS
Also Sunset Coast Special Events with monthly, quarterly, annual events continued for a decade 1996-2006. The Sunset Coast message became strong influencing Tourism WA with a recommendation to Shire to rename West Coast Highway to Sunset Coast Blvd establishing a Sunset Coast drive. From Cottesloe to Sorrento initially then expanded from Fremantle to Mullaloo. It’s a framing of the central coast but really the Indian Ocean meets the coastline state wide with a sunset over the sea every day as one of the natural attractions in Western Australia.

HOMELY HIATUS
From 2006 Mitchell & Co continued, evolving in a direction of more than the lifestyle but actual living the life. A new decade of homely happenings with a growing family, property, renovations, building moving, parenting, community volunteering. Business change in lanes on the Mitchell Marketing Management into the world of reality in realty.

M&Co has been continual in service to select few old clients along with Mitchell Residential & Commercial as another start up from 2006. A more person to person market challenge with ones lifetime event & largest investment. Plus developments that are shaping our state especially from the city to along the sunset coastal areas. Another level of education, experiences, expertise gained. This was a 20 year business development plan from before XPress prior.

SUNSET LIFE
After the hiatus the time has come again full circle to continue to appreciate the greatest place on earth is Perth with a sunset coast life. 2016 the wheels where again put in motion with a couple of events, then the development of current web site, instagram, facebook, linked in, email database, entering the new updated 21st century digital world. A handful of local crew again young & old jumped on board providing help with imput, info, construction, connections, content.

The Sunset Coast Directory Ezine was relaunched September 15th 2017 for anyone anywhere interested to browse to ride again to surf the net for all there is to offer. The last decade in WA has been significant with changes to so many things to see, do, visit to experience the awesomeness of WA.
