Local Perth musician, singer, songwriter, artist, performer Helen Shanahan has released her latest musical offering “Avalanche”.
We have had the pleasure of experiencing a couple of shows with Helen Shanahan who is a talented WA rising star. Another quality student product of WAPA West Australian Performimg Arts, Helen has done it the long normal way of just good work ethic for several years giging at local cafes, venues, festivals, special appearances, launches. These have been small, medium, large audiences with the regular publicity & promotions. But in a small place like Perth it can be tough to create any momentum. Helen continues to proudly present her original independent music building a body of work which she has home made. In doing this she enetred the WAMI song competition which she won “Song of the Year” with WA Music Industry [WAMI]. One of the dozen recipents in her genre of music category ‘Folk’ as a just reward & acknowledgent of her efforts.
Helen has developed her own personal sound which is outstanding with international sounding flavours. She is humble, genuine, modest when meeting in person, this comes across in her heartfelt near fragile feel when performing. Her vocals are beautiful with a perfect pitch & control that is heavenly. A theme of purity, honesty, integrity, love of life with interpretations of hope runs through Helen’s work. A sense of belonging, belief in good things, reflection of times gone by all caputure in a scincerity that is expressed through her music. Combining a simple acoustic guitar & beautiful vocals it is a nice standard mix.
Maybe this latest offering will get her career into gear travelling the country & also world wide. To be recognised as an new found Australian [West Aussie] artist who is ready to reap the rewards of her music offerings.
Keep an ear & eye out for this talented lady Helen Shanahan as she makes her way on the musical road to somewhere in the future.
