Eat No Evil
Eat No Evil has become one of the most well respected names in the food truck game. Serving up sexy coastal food from tacos to sliders, as well as vegan bowls and everything in between. If you’re looking for something a little shmancier for your next event, they also do some extra special canapés that will impress any guests.
Comida do Sul
One of Perth’s first food trucks (at least how we’d understand it now), Comida do Sul will always have a place in my heart: I remember the first choripan I had like it was yesterday. These guys are dishing up Brazilian eats that will knock your socks off – whether it’s prato feito, choripan or a personal favourite snack, coxinha: a fried croquette filled with shredded chicken, perfect with a dash of hot sauce.
Gary’s Diner
Run by the same guys as Comida, these are “cheeseburgers that glisten in the sun”. I mean, what else could you want? Choose from a single, double or veggie, definitely get a side of curly fries – dare I say it, the superior fry shape?
Soul Provider
Fusing Southern comfort food with bold Caribbean spices, Soul Provider certainly provides the goods. Mac and cheese croquettes, po-boys, Haitian soul plates, Southern fried chicken… my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Franny’s Moving Kitchen
Fusion is the name of the game with a lot of food trucks, and Franny’s Korean fusion is right up there. You won’t be able to resist the delicious smells wafting from their grill – with pork belly rice bowls, chicken spare ribs or bulgogi beef poutine just some of their rotating menu choices.
George’s Kebabs Greek Streats
This souvlaki and kebab truck (with a brick-and-mortar shopfront at Curtin) is a family-run campus favourite. Those snack boxes! The felafel! The feta chips! Top quality produce takes this Greek fare to the next level.
Ninja Cuisine
I’m holding out hope that there’ll be a surge in popularity for takoyaki – that it’ll become the next trendy food and there’ll be a takoyaki stand on ever corner! I can dare to dream, can’t I? In the meantime, killer food truck Ninja Cuisine is definitely the go-to for takoyaki in Perth, not to mention other Japanese street foods like gyoza, okonomiyaki, karaage and red bean taiyaki.
Jumplings
Speaking of gyoza… you can’t mention dumplings without mentioning Jumplings. If you’re gonna do one thing, you’ve gotta do it well, and Jumplings more than deliver. With a devoted following, the gyoza gang serves up a refined menu of gyoza with a few different fillings – generally duck, chicken, a veg option and maybe some seafood, served on some udon noodles. You’ll find yourself raving about them, too.
Wingman
Previously known as “The King of Wings”, Wingman is a man of legend at my work. He pulled up one night, loaded us all up with the most delicious chicken wings any of us had ever had, and then disappeared into the night. We’ve been doing a bunch of rituals to try and coax him back, but in the meantime, you can find him at the Inglewood Night Markets (that’s probably easier, to be honest).
There’s nothing that merges Italian and Australian culture more neatly than aperitivo – and who wouldn’t be on board with a reasonably priced afternoon nibble and drink? Get a taste of Italy right here in WA, with some of Perth’s best aperitivo hours:
Spritz Spizzicheria
Is there any greater shrine to Perth’s favourite cocktail than the glowing, orange monument that is Spritz Spizzicheria? Their menu takes you from a long afternoon of cocktails and nibbles to more substantial pasta, pizza and mains – or take advantage of their aperitivo time: two hours of drinking and snacking specials (Italy’s best recent export?). We’re starting to think Mount Hawthorn is punching above its weight in culinary options.

Canteen
Canteen promises pizza, wine and a real good time – and they certainly deliver. On our list of favourite pizzas in Perth, these guys have a view to match. Drop by between 3 and 6 any afternoon (that’s weekend OR weekday!) for their aperitivo specials, which includes $10 spritzes. If it’s a Monday night, you’ll also be able to enjoy their killer pizza and pinot deal. What could be better?
Cecchi’s
As if you needed an excuse to wrap up work early – Cecchi’s irresistible courtyard and fresh Italian dishes have fast become a favourite amongst locals. Even more irresistible? Those aperitivo specials between 3 and 6, Thursday to Saturday – like $5 beers, $9 piccolo cocktails and some delectable snacks (think panzanelle, cured meets and cheese, and some classic pizzas).

Garum
An afternoon in Garum’s alfresco, amongst the heritage architecture and climbing vines – well, that’s nothing to sniff at. But add an aperitivo into the mix? We can hardly contain ourselves. Head to Hibernian Place between 4:30 and 6pm, Wednesday to Saturday for half price drinks and bar snacks – including arancini, deep-fried mozzarella, salumi and pasta.

TRIO Cafe & Wine Bar
A great little spot on the Mount Lawley-Inglewood border, TRIO Cafe & Wine Bar slips under the radar a little when it comes small bars around Perth but as they say in the biz, “if you know you know.” They do great breakfasts during the week, and their lunch and dinner menu is equally luminous. Get there between 5 and 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays for aperitivo; you’ll get some complimentary snacks with every drink ordered.

La Madonna Nera
What was that we were saying about Mount Hawthorn? Having the misfortune of opening just before COVID hasn’t slowed La Madonna Nera down one bit, offering one of the most delightfully intimate dining experiences Perth has to offer. If you’re a fan of carefully curated, Italian-sourced wines then you’ll find plenty of friends at La Madonna Nera, and they’ll be happy to take you for a journey all over the boot-shaped peninsula. If you’re there between 4 and 6 on Fridays and Saturdays, you’ll be able to enjoy some seriously good snacks and cocktails at seriously low prices – like the flavour bomb potato millefoglie with fonduta and cumquat for only six bucks.

It’s time to dig in – here are nine Perth hawkers’ markets you should put on your outdoor dining list.
Burns Beach Twilight Market
Offering an array of delicious international street food from 30+ food trucks, live music and a licensed bar area, the weekly Burns Beach Twilight Market on the Burns Beach foreshore is a favourite among locals.
Open hours and dates: The market is open every Wednesday night from 5pm to 8:30pm until March 23, 2022.
Inglewood Night Markets
Monday nights are never dull in Inglewood thanks to the Inglewood Night Markets. You can choose from a variety of food and drink vendors serving up special treats along Beaufort Street and also local businesses who stay open, with gifts and homewares to browse through.
Open hours and dates: The markets are held from from 6pm to 9pm on Mondays until 31 March 2022.
PERTH CITY : Twilight Hawkers Market Forrest Place
Perth’s biggest street food market, the Twilight Hawkers Market, features a large selection of street food with cuisines from around the world, plus live music. It’s the perfect spot for a bite to eat after work or just a great night out.
The market is held every Friday night from 4:30pm to 9:30pm, from November 19 2021 to 25 March 2022.
Scarborough Sunset Markets
Head to the Scarborough Sunset Markets each Thursday night for spectacular sunsets, a great beachside vibe and a world of food truck flavours. You can also browse the artisan pop-up stores and be entertained by live performers.
Dates and location: The markets are at the Esplanade, Scarborough Beach every Thursday 5pm-9pm, until 28 April 2022.
South Perth Streets
Grab a picnic rug and head for Sir James Mitchell Park on the South Perth foreshore for StrEATS, a hawkers’ market set against the shimmering Perth city skyline.
The market is held from 5pm to 8:30pm on Sunday evenings until April 18, 2022.
Food Truck Fiesta
The Food Truck Fiesta series features a roster of multicultural food trucks, live entertainment and games for kids and adults alike. Their current season will see the trucks hit parks around the City of Joondalup and within the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.
The current season is set to end on 7 March 2022 with a retro-themed event.
Kalamunda Night Markets
Held at the corner of Kalamunda’s Central Mall and Barber Street, the Kalamunda Night Markets are filled with market stalls, entertainment from local musicians, and of course, plenty of food trucks and pop-up stalls from local restaurants.
Select Friday nights (with a Christmas edition on Thursday 23 December) from 5pm to 9pm, until 22 April 2022.
Dinner at Dusk, Point Walter
Relax on the grassed picnic area at Point Walter Reserve in Bicton for Dinner at Dusk, where you can enjoy river views with dinner served up from a range of food trucks.
Dine at one of the complimentary tables and chairs or spread a picnic rug.
